We are a local group associated with an international association which promotes the modelling of Narrow Gauge railways using scales of between 14 and 16mm to the foot (1:21 to 1:19 scales). Most members in East Anglia run on 32mm gauge track, but 45mm track is also supported.
The association in general is very friendly. Members are always encouraged regardless of their modelling ability or purchasing power and helpful advise is always available to those who seek it out.
Members run a mix of battery powered and live steam locomotives on their own tracks. Many members open their gardens, most tracks are outside, during the year and host a meeting for other group members. These meetings are spread throughout Norfolk, Suffolk, north Essex and east Cambridgeshire. We also support the Bressingham Steam Museum near Diss where we run a layout on some of their event days. You can find out more about this at the Suffolk and Borders Light Railway web site.
Our scale represents the boundary between railway modelling and model engineering. Some members build their own locomotives, both battery and live steam, whilst others choose to buy kits or completed locomotives from a growing list of suppliers in the UK. Other rolling stock, coaches, wagons, buildings and even track are constructed by the modeller or purchased as kits. A limited amount if equipment is available ready to run.
The menu above will let you navigate around this site, we hope to increase the number of pictures of members lines as time goes by.
