I’ve called my railway the Rickety Shed Light Railway because that’s where it all started. The shed has now finally departed in a skip but the name has stuck. Having aborted the first outdoor (mk2) design, mk3 was completed to a running condition in 2003 and many a happy running session followed. Progress to this point can be found on my old website here.

2007 brings a house move so the mk3 layout track has been pulled up. A new house brings a new direction which in my case takes me to a more accurate model of part of the Southwold Railway and a move to 45mm gauge track whilst retaining the 16mm to 1 foot scale. This website will document progress.

June 2008

Southwold base complete and track laid. First train runs! For pictures of the construction click the Outside "door" then Southwold.

May 2008

Constructon starts. Having excavated the area for Southwold station, footings are poured and brick laying commences.

February 2008

Bridge construction well underway, aiming for completion in time to get to the 16mm AGM.

Autumn 2007

Track store fills. Following the sale of my Roundhouse Bertie, track sufficient to connect Southwold and Walberswick has been purchased. Also steel, nuts and bolts have been purchased and a start has been made on the swing bridge.

June 2007

First Loco Arrives! Purchased from a modeller in Edinburgh a radio controlled Pearse Europa live steam 0-6-0 tank locomotive. This will be the basis of Southwold No.4 Wenhaston - check out progress on the Locomotives page.
