Taking benefit of the permanent home of the layout, plans were soon drawn up for expansion of the deck. To date this has seen the rear corners "filled in" and the rear section doubled in width.
These improvements should allow the inner loop to be completed and the provision of additional steaming up sidings. The main advantage of these enhancements will be the creation of two independent running tracks, currently a game of cat and mouse is played out if more than one loco is running!
March 2002 - Boards have now been constructed to expand the front section width such that a "proper" station area can be built. Track laying on the wider rear section is under way following some painting.
Autumn 2002 - Track laying is completed and a beautiful station, made by Eddie Bull, is installed.
Autumn 2005 - All the "on stage" track is now ballasted, an inner edge has been placed on the layout giving a distance to the scenery. Bridges now mark each end of the scenic limit. Detail is slowly being added to the scenic area, grass and bushes are now apparent. Supplier Model Town have donated a signal box kit which has been built and detailed by Richard Copperwheat. There are a few up to date pictures in the Gallery.
Summer 2006 - Details are slowly being added. Most significant addition is the metal barrier that keeps the viewing public at a safe distance. Some great new photo's taken by Paul Sherwood are in the gallery.
The continuing developments will be documented here as things progress.
